YuKonstruct and (co)space are seeking proposals from contractors to perform a number of functions between January 1 and March 31, 2017.
YuKonstruct is Yukon's community makerspace, and (co)space is a subsidiary of YuKonstruct and is the Yukon's first coworking space. YuKonstruct is a non-profit organization.
We are hiring 3-month contractors to help us take the next step in growing our community organization.
We are requesting proposals on how you or your company can perform the below functions. It is important to note that these functions are exactly that, and are not positions. We are equally open to proposals that address only one or possibly multiple functions in either a full-time part-time basis.
Please submit, by 5pm December 12, 2016, a resume accompanied by a cover letter or detailed quote describing how you propose to meet one or more of the following functions, and either an hourly rate and number of hours, or a total contract fee and availability.
We are a non-profit and will consider a mix of proposals that best meets the functions below within our budget constraints. Do not feel the need to perform ALL of the functions, we are expecting to award multiple contracts.
-Makerspace programming: developing curriculum, seeking and hiring instructors, testing and promoting revenue generating workshops to determine feasibility of, and recommendations on future programming at the makerspace.
-Makerspace training and development: developing training materials and curriculum for staff and member training, overseeing the maintenance and operations of equipment (i.e. 3D printers, laser cutters, wood shop, CNC routers, coding laboratory, etc...)
-Facility maintenance: overseeing the upgrading and maintenance of the makerspace equipment and facility (wood shop, metal shop, laser cutter, 3D printers, computers, sewing lab, etc...). Creating systems and how-to guides for future staff, members, and volunteers. Developing systems to reduce maintenance and increase user friendliness. Determine future needs of the facility and future equipment plans.
-Marketing and Communications: working to share to a wider audience the programs and services we offer, and exposing our brand to new potential members and partners.
-Website development: Integrating multiple websites into one comprehensive web platform. Updating content and booking systems. Integrating our current membership system with operational needs and determining possible new formats. Creating a method for generating demographics and statistical data to inform our strategy and communicate to sponsors and funders of our reach.
-Coworking business development: Working to refine operational systems for future efficiency, generating buzz and collaboration within our current membership, seeking growth and retention of membership, promoting and coordinating 3rd party rentals, managing members and tenants.
-Coworking programming: developing simple to offer entrepreneurial programming that enhances attractiveness the community, collaborating with third-party potential partners in co-offering programs or simply creating (co)space as a hub for early stage business development programming, Testing out revenue generating programs, ultimately providing recommendations of the feasibility of and future direction of programming in the coworking space.
-Volunteer management: coordinating volunteers (makerspace and coworking space), assigning projects, monitoring hours and progress, recognition programs, designing a membership management systems and orientations for volunteers.
Other skills seen as an asset:
-Technology hardware and software familiarity
-Educational/instructional skills and delivery
-Entrepreneurship and innovation
-experience in makerspaces or coworking spaces.
These functions, will be focused on developing capacity, efficiency, and revenues for the future, and will spend a small percentage of their time assisting with day to day operations, including being available some nights and weekends for events and programs.
